Riduan Zalani is one of Singapore’s most prominent artists, versatile in producing and performing various drums and percussion instruments. His diligence, discipline and ability have made him an essential part of numerous local and international performing groups: Orkestar Trio, Orkestra Melayu Singapura, Semangat Keris (previously known as Keris/ Keris Movements), Orkes Delima, Wicked Aura, Soul Journey (SG), Batucada Sound Machine (NZ), One Asia Classic Orchestra (JPN) among others.
In August 2018, He also released his first solo album, Gelombunk and his first instructional DVD, That Beat Of Faith, both dedicated to the study and performance of the Malay drum, Rebana.
Riduan continues to strive toward producing innovative artistic works and pursue in-depth knowledge in the study of drums and percussion. He is especially keen on the development of a Southeast Asian ethnic drumming culture in a contemporary setting. His passion in this area has led him and fellow Rebana artisan, Yaziz Hassan, to form Nadi Singapura – a dedicated ensemble to revitalise and generate a renewed interest in the Malay drumming traditions and rhythms.
